ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team suffered an overtime loss to Merrimack College in the opening round of Hockey East playoffs at Alfond Arena Wednesday night.

Ida Kuoppala scored Maine's lone goal, her 21st of the season, around the six-minute mark left in the second period to give Maine the lead.
Sam Morrison picked up the assist on Kuoppala's power-play goal.Â
Merrimack scored on a power-play opportunity in the third period to equalize the score, sending the game into a 20-minute overtime period.Â
One minute and 36 seconds into overtime, Merrimack notched the game-winning goal, ending Maine's season at a 15-18-2 record.Â
