Philadelphia, PA - The University of Maine defeated Navy to go 2-1 in the Cathedral Classic presented by Toyota with the victory on Sunday, 71-66.

Navy jumped out to an early lead as they took a 11-0 run in the opening half to take a 16-6 lead at the 13 minute mark.

Maine worked their way back into the contest in the first half as they cut the deficit down to just five points heading into halftime at 33-28.

Kellen Tynes led the Black Bears in scoring with 9 points as he also had 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

AJ Lopez had 6 points while seven other Black Bears recorded at least one point in the first half.

The Black Bears opened the second half on a 11-6 run to tie up the contest at 39-39 four minutes into the half.

Maine continued to gain momentum as they pushed out to a double-digit lead at 11:12 remaining in the contest on a steal by Burns and layup by Tynes, making it 55-45.

Maine held onto their lead despite a late run from Navy to pick up the victory, 71-66.

Quion Burns finished with 21 points as he scored 19 points in the second half.

Tynes finished with 19 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.

Lopez finished with 10 points.

Maine (5-4) returns to Orono to take on UMA on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 P.M.
