ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team battled back from a two-goal second half deficit to earn a 2-2 America East tie with NJIT on Sunday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond.

The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead late in the first half when Bella Ramirez got into the box and lofted a high shot. NJIT then took a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute.

Trailing with less than 20 minutes to play, the Black Bears finally got on the board in the 73rd minute when
Lara Kirkby converted a penalty kick. With six minutes to play in the second half,
Gillian Rovers got on the end of a
Kristina Kelly service and poked home her first goal of the season.
