Women's Soccer defeats Vermont for first league win

Three second half goals guide Maine to victory

Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team stretched its undefeated streak to nine as it tallied three second half goals to earn its first America East victory of the season, 3-2, over Vermont on Sunday afternoon.

Abby Kraemer, Luise Reinwald, and Jordan Pinette netted the goals for Maine while Kira Kutzinski earned her sixth win of the season in net for the Black Bears.

Maine held an 8-4 edge in shots on goal and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Catamounts jumped out first, tallying the first goal of the game in the 39' off the foot of Lauren DeGroot.

Vermont carried its 1-0 lead into the half.

Kraemer tied the score with her team-leading eighth goal of the season off an assist from Julie Lossius just 24-seconds into the second half.

The Catamounts regained the lead on DeGroot's second goal of the afternoon in the 76th minute.

Luise Reinwald knotted the score once again on her first goal as she beat the Vermont goaltender low right off a feed from Kristina Kelly.

Jus 16-seconds later, Pinette would tally the eventual game-winner as Kelly tallied her second assist of the season on the goal in the 87th minute.

Maine returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 24 when it travels to meet UAlbany.
