Elle Vermilya Nets Game-Tying Score with 11 Seconds Remaining to Tie Holy Cross on Thursday Evening, 1-1

Orono, ME - The University of Maine women's soccer team wrapped up its three-game home stand with a tie against Holy Cross on Thursday evening, 1-1.

Holy Cross struck first in the 25th minute on a score by Cerys Balmer.

Elle Vermilya played the late hero as with just 11 seconds remaining in the contest she connected on her first goal of the season, a right-foot shot into the upper right of the goal.

Kira Kutzinski was solid in net for the Black Bears as she allowed just her first goal on the season. She picked up three saves in the draw.

Maine (2-0-1) heads out on the road for the first in 2023 as they travel to Stonehill College for a matchup on Sunday, Aug. 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 A.M.
