Mackenzie Wilson has qualified and will compete in the NCAA Preliminary Round in the hammer throw at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville on May 25 at 10 a.m.
In order to qualify for the NCAA Preliminary Round, an athlete has to be ranked in the top-48 of their event. Wilson, currently ranked No. 22 in the nation in the hammer event, currently holds the UMaine school record in the hammer with a throw of 61.59m.
Earlier this season, Wilson captured gold in the hammer at both the America East Outdoor Championships and the New England Outdoor Championships.
The top 12 finishers at the NCAA Preliminary Round will advance to compete at the Division I National Championship, hosted at the University of Texas.
