Maine moves to 13-2 in America East Play

Orono, ME – The University of Maine baseball team won the weekend series against UMass Lowell by taking game three of the weekend, 11-4.

Second Inning: Jake Rainess brought home the opening run of the contest as he doubled to left center, scoring Jake Marquez (E6) on the play.

Quinn McDaniel made it 2-0 Black Bears as he hit a sac-fly to center field, scoring Myles Sargent (BB).

Connor Goodman kept the Black Bear bats going as he singled to left field, scoring Jake Rainess (2B).

Nick White made it a four-run inning for the Black Bears as he singled to left field, scoring Jeremiah Jenkins (IBB).

The River Hawks got one back in the second inning on a balk.

Third Inning: The Black Bears chased Nick DiRito from the contest after just two innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Brendan Williams was called on in relief.

Jeremiah Jenkins brought home the fifth run of the contest for the Black Bears as he was hit a by a pitch with the bases loaded. Myles Sargent (1B) scored on the play.

Connor Goodman singled home a pair of runs to make it 7-1 Black Bears. Jake Rainess (BB) and Quinn McDaniel (BB) scored on the play.

UMass Lowell scored their second run of the contest on a balk. Gerry Siracusa hit a solo home run to make it 7-3 after three innings.

Fifth Inning: Robert Gallagher singled home a run for the River Hawks in the fifth inning.

Seventh Inning: Michael Simes began the seventh inning on the mound for UMass Lowell. Williams went 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, 1 hit batter and 4 strikeouts.

Eighth Inning: Luc Lavigueur began the eighth inning on the mound for the Black Bears. Noah Lewis went 7 strong innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, 4 walks and striking out 8.

Ninth Inning: Jake Rainess gave the Black Bears an insurance run in the ninth inning as he singled home Colin Plante (2B) to make it 8-4 Black Bears.

Jeremiah Jenkins broke the game wide open in the ninth inning as he hit his 17^th home run of the season, this one being a three-run home run to right field. Jake Rainess (1B) and Quinn McDaniel (BB) scored on the play.

Ryan Scott began the ninth inning on the mound for the Black Bears. Lavigueur fired off a perfect eighth inning as he struck out 2 batters and allowed no base runners.

Ryan Scott allowed one run in the ninth inning on 1 hit, 1 walk and he struck out 1 batter.

Noah Lewis (5-1) picked up the win for the Black Bears.

Nick DiRito (3-3) took the loss for the River Hawks.

Maine (23-15, 13-2 AE) has already locked up a playoff spot in the America East tournament but are looking to grab one of the top-two seeds in the playoff bracket for a first-round bye as they will take on the UMBC Retrievers in a weekend series in Orono starting on Friday, May 5. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 P.M.
