Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine coaching staff announced the annual Maine Football Team Awards at the team awards ceremony on Friday, April 21 at Wells Conference Center.

The Black Bears also announced the captains for the 2023 season. The 2023 captains are Shawn Bowman, Derek Robertson, Kevin Jones, and Vince Thomas. For Bowman, the honor marks his second consecutive year being voted a captain by his teammates.

• Harold Westerman Award - Most Valuable Player: Zavier Scott
• Jack Butterfield Co-Outstanding Offensive Player Award: Zavier Scott & Shawn Bowman
• Walter Abbott Outstanding Defensive Player Award: Adrian Otero
• Sam Sezak Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award: Michal Gerace
• Roger Ellis Outstanding Defensive Lineman Award: Jamehl Wiley
• Woody Carville Student-Athlete Achievement Award: Michael Gerace
• Ron Rogerson Spirit/Dedication Award: Raffaele Salamone
• Thurlow Cooper Offensive Rookie of the Year: Rohan Jones
• Darius Minor Defensive Rookie of the Year: Darius McKenzie
• George Wood Outstanding Special Teams Player Award: Vince Thomas
• Jim Butterfield Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year: Evan Wallace
• Jim Butterfield Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year: Xavier Holmes
• "Maine Man" Strength & Conditioning Award: Zavier Scott
