FRESNO, Calif. -- The University of Maine softball team defeated Fresno State, 4-2, on the final day of the Bulldog Classic.

In the top of the second inning, the Bears struck for the first two runs of the afternoon.
Anna Margetis scored after the Bulldogs committed a throwing error.
Krista Francia drove in the second run with a single to shortstop.
Immy Gie scored on the base knock. At the end of two innings, Maine held a 2-0 lead.

The Black Bears added two more in the top of the fifth inning.
Mariah Pearson drove in Grae McGouldrick with an RBI single before
Madison Hand ripped a double to the fence that allowed Pearson to score. Fresno State added a solo shot. At the end of five complete innings, Maine held a 4-1 lead.

With rain falling, the Bulldogs scored one more run in the bottom of the six. Wild pitches and walks aided Fresno State's small rally. They were the final runs of the night as Maine held onto the 4-2 lead after a 90 minute rain delay.
