FRESNO, Calif. -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by Fresno State, 4-3, on the final day of the Bulldog Classic.
 
In the top of the second inning, the Black Bears took a three run lead. Nora Campo launched her first career home run with Katie Jo Moery and Izzy Nieblas on base. The ball cleared the center field fence as the Fresno State defense looked on. The Bulldogs added one in their half of the second. After two complete in Fresno, Maine led 3-1.
 
Fresno State scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Black Bears. A triple, a double, and a wild pitch aided the rally as Maine fell, 4-3.
 
Notes:

• Caitlyn Fallon and Alexandra Gruitch (0-4) both saw time in the circle. They combined for two strikeouts and three earned runs.
• Nora Campo provided the offense with a three-run home run in the top of the second inning. Izzy Nieblas and Katie Jo Moery collected a hit in the loss.

Next: The Black Bears are scheduled to return to the diamond Tuesday, March 15 at Sacramento State. First pitch in Sacramento, California is scheduled for 4:00 pm ET/1:00 pm PT.
