FRESNO, Calif. -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by New Mexico State, 9-1, in game one, while also dropping game number two to Utah Tech, 12-1 on day two of the Bulldog Classic.

Game One: Maine 1, New Mexico State: 9

The Aggies took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after they manufactured a run off a foul out. They would add another on an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning.

Grace McGouldrick ignited the Black Bears' rally when she reached on a bunt. The graduate student would come around to score on an
Izzy Nieblas RBI double. New Mexico State would score two in their half of the third inning. After three complete in Fresno, Maine trailed 4-1.

The Aggies posted five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. They were the final runs of the morning as Maine dropped the first game of the weekend, 9-1.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Trailblazer scored three runs off a walk, double, a couple stolen bases, and an error.

Utah Tech posted five more runs in the bottom half of the second in thanks to two a handful of walks, singles, an error, and a home run.

Maine was only able to score one run after they loaded the bases.
Mariah Pearson scored the run to make it 8-1.

Utah Tech added four more runs as the Black Bears dropped game number two, 12-1.
