Worcester, MA - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team falls in their fifth straight overtime game against Holy Cross with a final of 2-1.
First Goal (0-1 Holy Cross): After a scoreless first period, Holy Cross struck first on the day 18:10 into the second. Mary Edmonds scored the power play goal grabbing the rebound from Darci Johal's shot. Sofia Smithson also picked up an assist on the goal.
Second Goal (1-1 Maine): Just 48 seconds into the third period Maine would score their first goal of the game to tie it up. Mira Seregély took control of the puck and passed down ice to Rahel Enzler. Enzler, on the right side of the net, looked across to Alyssa Wruble and passed the puck in front of the goal to a wide open Wruble who was able to shoot the puck directly in.
Third Goal (2-1 Holy Cross): 2:37 into overtime the Crusaders scored to secure their win. Lilly Fenny started with the puck shooting it towards the net where Emillie Fortunato passed across to Alexia Moreau who got the goal.
Jorden Mattison ended with 27 saves for the Black Bears.
Madison Beck finished with 35 saves for Holy Cross.
Maine will be back on the road in one week to travel to Merrimack and Vermont for more Hockey East matchups.
