Portland, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team defeated Dartmouth by a score of 6 to 3, Saturday in Portland, to increase their win-streak to five games.
Freshman
Haley Ryan netted an unassisted short-handed goal in the second period to put Maine on the board first. Within less than ten minutes, Ryan completed her natural hat trick, tallying two more goals for the Black Bears.
Courtney Colarullo and
Abby Latorella picked up an assist apiece on Ryan's even-strength goals - both 2-on-1 plays. The momentum for the Black Bears was high as junior forward
Alyssa Wruble tacked on a fourth goal with 16 seconds left in the period, with
Rahel Enzler and
Cora Webber tallying assists.
The third period came with two empty-net goals by
Ann-Frederique Guay and Mira Seregély.
Ida Kuoppala and
Ava Stevenson earned assists.
Senior netminder
Jorden Mattison stopped 31 of 34 shots for her third win of the season.

The team will head to Pittsburgh at the end of the month to play at the Battle of the 'Burgh tournament with three non-conference teams. Game one of the tournament is set for Friday, December 29 against Colgate University. On Saturday, December 30, Maine will face either Bemidji State or Robert Morris.
