Orono, ME – The University of Maine defeated the Owls of UMPI on Wednesday night, 111-59.

UMPI scored the first four points of the contest before the Black Bears went on a 15-2 run to take control of the opening five minutes of the contest.

The Black Bears continued their dominance through the opening half as they built their lead all the way up to 19 at the half, a 53-34 contest.

Kellen Tynes led all scorers with 11 points in the opening 20 minutes of action. He also had three steals.

Milos Nenadic (10),
AJ Lopez (8) and
Peter Filipovity (8) rounded out the top scorers for the Black Bears. Nenadic also had six rebounds.

Jaden Clayton had five assists in the first half.

Maine came out in the second half and continued to pull further ahead as they picked up their first win of the season over the UMPI Owls, 111-59.

Tynes and
Logan Carey both led the Black Bears in scoring as they had 18 each. Tynes had four steals while Carey had three.

Milos Nenadic had his first career double-double as he had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Quion Burns had 10 rebounds to go along with five points and a block for Maine.

Maine (1-1) remains at home as they host Merrimack on Sunday, Nov. 12 as part of a two-basketball game day in Orono as the women's team plays at 1 P.M. The Men will tip-off at 4 P.M.
