DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Maine women's basketball team fell to Drake, 72-56, in its final game of the Vibrant Thanksgiving Classic on Sunday afternoon at the Knapp Center.

Anne Simon tallied 14 points on the day, moving into ninth all-time in program history with a layup in the third quarter.
Adrianna Smith recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a season-high 16 points to go with 11 rebounds.
Paula Gallego recorded 12 points, all in the second half, and was 5-for-8 on field goals including 2-of-3 beyond the arc.

Drake led the game wire-to-wire, opening up the game with a 5-0 run before
Olivia Rockwood hit from three-point range to put Maine on the board. The Bulldogs, though, would go on to take a 24-12 lead after the first 10 minutes.

The Black Bears got to within six points before halftime but a late layup and free throw gave the hosts a 13-point edge at the break.

The Bulldogs ran out to a 59-43 lead by the end of the third and the Black Bears responded with a 15-14 scoring edge in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as Drake was in control for the 72-56 final.

Maine returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 30 when it hosts Indiana University at 7 p.m. at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
