Women's Ice Hockey Drops Decision to No. 12 UConn

Orono, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team dropped Saturday's matchup to No. 12 UConn by a score of 3-1.

The Black Bears outplayed and outshot the Huskies 35 to 29 yet again, but struggled to get pucks behind UConn's Tia Chan. Similar to Friday's game, UConn struck first on a power play opportunity late in the first period. The Black Bears saw one power play chance earlier in the period.

The scoreless second period ended as the Huskies held the lead. With under ten minutes left to play, UConn's struck again when Jada Habisch tipped in a goal to get a second puck behind Maine netminder Jorden Mattison. Three minutes later, Habisch tallied her second goal to give the Huskies a three-goal lead. The Black Bears responded ten seconds later as defenseman Adriana van de Leest put Maine on the board.

The final minutes came with a handful of chances for the Black Bears as they pulled the goalie for an extra attacker, but the clock wound down for a two-goal loss. Jorden Mattison ended the game with 26 saves for Maine.

The Black Bears hit the road to play the University of Vermont on Nov 17/18 for a conference series.
