Orono, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team finishes with their first tie of the season against Boston University in a back and forth battle.
First Goal (1-0 Maine): Just 3:18 into the game Maine scored first to take the early lead. Alyssa Wruble connected with Rahel Enzler in stride. Enzler shot the puck into the goalie's pads where Mira Sergély was there to grab the rebound and get the score.
Second Goal (1-1 Boston University): 6:53 into the first Boston University answered with one of their own. Christina Vote stole the puck from half ice and skated down to get the score unassisted.
Third Goal (1-2 Boston University): The Terriers took the lead 7:59 into the first period with a goal from Lacey Martin. Martin shot the puck head on to the net where it went bar down and in. Brooke Disher and Clara Yuhn each picked up an assist.
Fourth Goal (2-2 Maine): Grace Heiting tied the game 18:27 into the first. Rahel Enzler got the puck from the right side of the net and passed the puck to Emma Lange in front of the net who then quickly passed it over to Heiting on the left side for the score.
Fifth Goal (3-2 Maine): Rahel Enzler scored Maine's third goal in the second period to take the lead. Mira Seregély and Alyssa Wruble connected behind the net where Wruble then passed the puck up to Sergély who found the back of the net.
Sixth Goal (3-3 Boston University): The Terriers tied the game with a power play goal from Julia Nearis in the third. Nadia Mattivi passed the puck from the left side of the net back out to Sydney Healy who took a one timer shot that went straight onto the net with multiple players going for the rebound where Julia Nearis found the puck and snuck it in bringing the game into overtime.
The Black Bears and Terriers ended the night in a tie after overtime. This sent the game into a shootout for the extra point in Hockey East Standings. Luisa Welcke connected to score the first goal of Maine's shootout but from there the Terriers would score their next two goals to secure the shootout victory.
Anna LaRose finished with 27 saves for the Black Bears.
Callie Shanahan also finished with 27 saves for the Terriers.
