UMaine tabs Seth Woodcock Co-Lead for Harold Alfond Foundation UMS TRANSFORMS initiative

Orono, Maine – Seth Woodcock has been tapped to co-lead with interim athletics director Samantha Hegmann-Wary the Athletics portion of the Harold Alfond Foundation UMS TRANSFORMS initiative. He has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development and Capital Planning, and will be responsible for UMaine's capital planning associated with the Athletics Facilities Master Plan and the Harold Alfond Foundation gift.

Woodcock has served as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development since 2012, and will continue those duties.

"Seth has long been involved in Athletics fundraising, including capital campaigns, and the Alfond Fund," says UMaine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy. "This appointment expands his leadership role and we welcome his vision in seeing the Athletics Facilities Master Plan to completion."

"It remains a privilege to serve my alma mater and home state as a member of the Black Bear Athletics team," Woodcock says. "Thanks to the transformational contribution and incredible generosity of the Harold Alfond Foundation, we have the opportunity of a lifetime. This effort is so important to so many. The $20 million fundraising campaign combined with the planning, design and construction of these facilities is a major undertaking — and it will take the contributions of all of us to ensure its success.

"I couldn't be more excited and honored to play a role in the enhancement of our athletic facilities," says Woodcock. "I look forward to working with our donors as we seek contributions and input to get these projects to the finish line, and remain extremely motivated considering the impact our collective efforts will have on the University of Maine, our athletic programs, student-athletes and community."

"Seth's expertise and experience in both athletics and fundraising will function as a bridge between the aspects of design and feasibility to keep projects moving forward in a timely manner," says UMaine Foundation President Jeff Mills.

Woodcock, a '99 graduate of the University of Maine, returned to his alma mater in 2012 as the Associate Athletic Director for Development. In fall 2013, Woodcock was appointed as interim Athletic Director and served in that role until February 2014 before returning to his Associate Athletic Director position. Woodcock has been involved in several capital projects, beginning with his time in development for Maine Medical Center, where he was one of the lead fundraisers for capital expansions to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and Spring Harbor Hospital.
