WEST HARTFORD, CT – The University of Maine baseball team dropped the first game of the weekend series against Hartford, 13-8, Thursday afternoon.

Second Inning: Devin Kellogg got the Hawks on the board first in the bottom of the second frame as he hit a solo home run to left center.

Third Inning: Ben Maycock made it 2-0 Hawks as he hit an RBI single to right field, scoring Logan Cole. Daniel Burnett added another run for his squad as he doubled to left field, scoring Tremayne Cobb Jr. Noah Rivera capped off the 3-run inning for the Hawks as he hit an infield single to shortstop, scoring Ben Maycock.

Fourth Inning: Derek Tenney added two more the Hawks lead as he hit a two-run home run to left field, scoring Logan Cole on the play.

Trevor LaBonte's day came to an end after the Tenney home run, as he lasted 3 and 1/3, allowing 6 earned runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and striking out 4.

Sixth Inning: Maine got their first run of the contest as
Jeremiah Jenkins drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing home
Jordan Schulefand.

Edwin Almanzar Jr's day would come to an end during the 6
th inning as he allowed 4 earned runs on 3 hits, 6 walks and striking out 3.

Maine, who has clinched the 1-seed for the America East tournament on May 25-28, is back in action on Friday, May 20 for game two of the series against Hartford. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
