Smithfield, R.I. -- Mackenzie Wilson took the gold in the hammer throw to lead the Black Bears on day one of the New England Championships at Bryant University. After one day of competition, the women's track & field team are tied for second with 20 points.

Wilson captured first place honors in the hammer with a winning mark of 56.78m.

Julia Feid moved into third on Maine's all-time top 10 list in the javelin event with a mark of 43.28m, good for third place.

Yasmen Farag cleared 3.60m in the pole vault to finish third in the event.
