Smithfield, R.I. --
Lewis Roebuck set the University of Maine school record in the hammer throw on day one of the New England Championships at Bryant University. After one day of competition, the Black Bears stand in eighth place with 12 points.
Roebuck's moved into first on Maine's all-time top-10 list with a school record mark of 59.26m in the hammer, good for fourth place.
Isaiah Allen finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 61.65m while
Zachary Beaton stands in fourth place in the decathlon with 3,350 points after five events. Beaton won the high jump (1.93m), placed second on the long jump (6.52m), and placed third in the 100m with a time of 11.42.
Ryan Gendron took seventh in the high jump after clearing 1.95m.
Kyle Jacques came home 11th in the long jump with a mark of 6.66m while
Lucas Bergeron added an 11th place finish in the 10000m with a final time of 32.23.66.
