ORONO, ME – The University of Maine baseball team took game two over the Riverhawks of UMass Lowell, 8-5 Saturday afternoon.

Third Inning: The Black Bears put up 6 runs in the bottom of the frame to jump out to a 6-0 lead.
Quinn McDaniel started it off with a sac-fly to center field, scoring
Connor Goodman.
Joe Bramanti followed up with a 3-run home run to deep left field, scoring
Jordan Schulefand and
Jeff Mejia.
Jeremiah Jenkins capped off the inning with a 2-run home run later in the frame, scoring
Scout Knotts.

Ryan Towle's day came to an end after 3 innings of work, allowing 6 earned runs on 4 hits, 4 walks and striking out 3.

Fifth Inning: Maine made it 7-0 as
Scout Knotts scored on an errant throw by the catcher to score from third.

Caleb Leys day came to an end after 6 innings of work, as he allowed no runs on no hits, 7 walks and striking out 6.

Seventh Inning: Roddy Hernandez hit a single to shortstop that was thrown away by the Maine defense, allowing Robert Gallagher to score on the play. Roddy Hernandez scored on a passed ball by the Black Bears. Cedric Rose hit an RBI single to left field, scoring Fritz Genther. Ryan Proto singled to left field, scoring Cedric Rose and Gerry Siracusa, to cap-off a 5-run inning by the Riverhawks.

Maine would get one run back in the frame as
Jake Marquez hit a sac-fly to left field, bringing home
Scout Knotts.

Caleb Leys (2-1) earned the win for the Black Bears.

Matthew Pushard (5) picked up the save for the Black Bears, throwing 2 innings allowing no hits, 1 walk and striking out 5.

Ryan Towle (2-5) took the loss for the Riverhawks.

The Black Bears are back in action on Sunday, April 24 for the third game of the series against UMass Lowell. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
