ORONO, ME – The University of Maine baseball team moves to 4-0 in America East play as they defeated the Stony Brook Seawolves in the home opener, 10-9 on Friday evening.

First Inning:
Joe Bramanti got the Black Bears offense going early as he hit an RBI-single to right field, bringing home
Quinn McDaniel.
Â
Second Inning: Following 3 unearned run by the Seawolves, the Black Bears went back to work on the offensive side of the ball, as
Jordan Schulefand drove home
Ryan Turenne with an RBI single.
Jeff Mejia reached out an error, allowing Schulefand to score.
Quinn McDaniel capped of the inning as he had an RBI-fielder's choice, bringing home Mejia.

Third Inning:
Jake Marquez made it 5-3 Black Bears as he hit a line drive into left field, driving home
Jake Rainess.

Fourth Inning:
Joe Bramanti and
Jake Rainess each chipped in an RBI-single in the inning. The big blow of the contest came off of the bat of
Ryan Turenne, as he hit a 3-run homer to deep right field, giving Maine a 10-3 lead.

Fifth Inning: Stony Brook would begin chipping their way back into the contest as Stanton Leuthner drove home a pair runs to get his side back to a 5-score game. Shane Paradine drew a bases loaded walk later in the inning, bringing the run total to 3 for the frame.

Seventh Inning: Evan Fox hit a 2-run home run to kick off the seventh for his squad just a pair of batters into the frame. Matt Brown-Eiring then drew a bases loaded walk to get the score to 10-9.

Maine would hold onto the slim lead over the final few frames, picking up their 4
th-straight conference victory.

Leif Bigelow picked up the win for Maine, his second of the season.

Ben Fero picked up the loss, his second of the season.

Matthew Pushard picked up the save, his second of the season.

Maine, who will be looking to make it a perfect 5-0 start in conference play, faces off against Stony Brook for game 2 of the week series on Saturday, March 26. First pitch is slated for 1:02 P.M.
