Baseball Sweeps Binghamton to Start Conference Play 3-0

VESTEL, NY – The University of Maine baseball team completed the weekend sweep of Binghamton to begin conference play 3-0 on Sunday, with a final score of 7-1.
 
First Inning: Joe Bramanti gives the Black Bears the lead in the first inning as he hit an RBI groundout to third base, bringing home Jeff Mejia. Quinn McDaniel scores two pitches later as Ryan Bryggman threw a wild pitch.
 
Second Inning: Jake Marquez kept the offense going for the Black Bears as he hit an RBI single to center field, driving home Jake Rainess. Jeff Mejia follows up with a 2-run single to right field, driving home Ryan Turenne and Jake Marquez to make it 5-0 Black Bears in the second.
 
Fourth Inning: Joe Bramanti kept the Black Bears rolling as he hit a 2-run home run to center field, giving the Black Bears a 7-run lead heading into the bottom of the frame. Jeff Mejia can around to score on the long ball.
 
Ryan Bryggman's day came to an end after the fourth inning, as he pitched 4 innings, allowing 7 runs (all earned) and striking out 4.
 
Sixth Inning: Cavan Tully broke through on the score board for Binghamton in the bottom of the frame as he drew a bases loaded walk, bringing home Devan Bade.
 
Jordan Schulefand's day came to an end after the 6th inning. He turned in a quality start, pitching 6 innings, allowing the one run and striking out 5.
 
Maine would come away with the victory and the series sweep of Binghamton with a 7-1 victory on Sunday.
