Women's Ice Hockey Falls in Hockey East Semifinals, 3-1 Against Northeastern

BOSTON, MA – The University of Maine women's ice hockey team was knocked out in the semifinals round by the Northeastern Huskies Wednesday night by a final score of 3-1.
 
FIRST GOAL (1-0 Northeastern): Maddie Mills got the scoring going for the Huskies as she netted her 16th goal of the season. Her score came off of a deflected pass that found its way right to her stick with an open shot off to the side of the net. Chloe Aurard (21) and Alina Muller (25) picked up the assists.
 
SECOND GOAL (2-0 Northeastern): The second Huskies goal of the second period came off of a slap shot by Maureen Murphy, who fired the shot into the upper left corner. The power play goal was assisted on by Alina Muller (26) and Skylar Fontaine (39).
 
THIRD GOAL (2-1 Maine): Ida Kuoppala got the Black Bears going early in the third period as she netted her 10th of the season to bring Maine to within one. Her power play score came as Kuoppala fired a big time one-timer past Aerin Frankel to get the Black Bears offense going. Taylor Leech (11) and Celine Tedenby (10) picked up the assists.
 
FOURTH GOAL (3-1 Northeastern): Maureen Murphy answered back for the Huskies as she scored her of the season to get Northeastern up by two. Her score came off of assists by Brooke Hobson (14) and Chloe Aurard (22).
 
Jorden Mattison finished with 38 saves in the losing effort for the Black Bears.
