Baseball Erupts for 19 Runs, 22 Hits as they Down Binghamton

VESTEL, NY – The University of Maine baseball team goes off for 19 runs, 22 hits in dominating win over America East opponent Binghamton, winning 19-9.
 
First Inning: Joe Bramanti wasted little time giving the Black Bears a 2-0 lead as he hit a 2-run single to center field, driving in Jeff Mejia (1 Stolen Base) and Quinn McDaniel (1 Stolen Base).
 
Following a walk by Scout Knotts, Jake Rainess drove in another pair of runs as he hit a single to center field, driving in Joe Bramanti and following a throwing error by Binghamton, Knotts also scored on the play.
 
Second Inning: Andrew Tan gets Binghamton on the board in the bottom of the frame as he hits a double down the right field line to bring home Evin Sullivan.
 
Third Inning: Connor Aoki made it a one-run game he hit a two-run home run to left field to bring the score to 4-3. Cavan Tully scored on the play.
 
Fourth Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins answers for the Black Bears as he hit a hard double into the right field gap, plating a pair of runs in the form of Jake Marquez and Jordan Schulefand.
 
Following a Quinn McDaniel single to left in the top of the fourth, John Lumpinski's day came to an end. He pitched 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing 7 runs, 6 earned with no strikeouts.
 
Joe Bramanti welcomes the new arm by driving in a run on the second pitch, and RBI fielder's choice, to increase the Black Bear's. Jake Rainess would hit an RBI single to cap off a 4-run inning for the Black Bears.
 
Maine led 8-3 after 4.
 
Fifth Inning: Jordan Schulefand would hit a sac-fly to center field, bringing home Ryan Turenne.
 
Caleb Leys day would come to an end in the fifth inning as he went 4 innings, allowing 5 runs and striking out 7.
 
He would leave Matthew Pushard with a bases loaded, no one out jam in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Devan Bade would draw the bases loaded walk off of Pushard, bringing in Cavan Tully. Andrew Tan would then hit an RBI groundout to shortstop, driving in Logan Haskell.
 
Maine would lead 9-5 after the fifth.
 
Sixth Inning: The Black Bear offensive would break the game wide open in the inning as they hit 3 home runs in the frame. Joe Bramanti (solo), Ryan Turenne (2-run) and Jake Marquez (solo) did the damage for Maine.
 
Seventh Inning: Quinn McDaniel kept the home run's coming for the Black Bears as he hit a solo home run to add on to the Maine score.
 
Ryan Turenne would plate a pair on an RBI single later in the frame, driving in Scout Knotts and Joe Bramanti. Jordan Schulefand drew a walk to bring home Jake Rainess and Jeff Mejia hit an RBI groundout to bring home Turenne.
 
Maine led 18-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh.
 
Christian Perez hit a bases clearing double, driving in 3 runs (Corry, Bade and Sullivan) to get Binghamton to within 10 of the Maine lead.
 
Eighth Inning: Quinn McDaniel kept up his unbelievable hitting weekend as he hit his second home run of the game, third of the weekend, to the push the Maine lead to 19-8.
 
Owen Parliament came around to score in the bottom of the eighth as Maine committed a throwing error.
 
Matthew Pushard picks up the win for the Black Bears as he goes 3 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 3 runs.
 
John Lumpinski takes the loss for Binghamton.
 
Maine will be looking to complete the series sweep in the opening weekend of America East action as they face off against Binghamton for Game 3 on Sunday, March 20. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 P.M.
