DELAND, FL – The University of Maine baseball team fell at Stetson on Monday night, 9-4.

Second Inning: Jake Bullard got Stetson out to an early 2-0 lead as he hit a triple to right field that drove in Juan Correa and Anthony DeFabbia. Bullard would then score on a fielder's choice play by Christian Pregent. Bullard made a great slide at home plate to avoid the tag by
Ryan Turenne on the play at home.

Third Inning:
Jeremiah Jenkins had a quick answer for the Black Bears as he hit a two-run triple down the right field line to bring home
Jordan Schulefand and
Jeff Mejia and get the Black Bears to within one.
Quinn McDaniel would follow up the Jenkins triple with an RBI single of his own, driving home Jenkins and tying the game up at 3-3.

Fifth Inning: Nick DiPonzio broke the 3-3 tie as he hit a hard ground ball to second that
Quinn McDaniel fielded and attempted a play at home plate, that Cameron Hill was able to score on, resulting in an RBI fielder's choice for DiPonzio. Kyle Ball, with two outs, reached out an error by the Maine defense, which resulted in DiPonzio scoring. Stetson would score three more runs as a result of the error, bringing their lead to 8-3.

Noah Lewis's day would end for the Black Bears, as he went 4 and 2/3, allowing 7 hits, 8 runs (4 earned) and striking out 4.
Colton Carson would come in for the Black Bears in relief.

Dominic Stagliano's day came to end in the sixth inning, as he pitched 5 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs (all earned) and striking out 4.

Seventh Inning: Banks Griffith tacked on the last run of the contest in the bottom of the seventh for Stetson as he grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing Kyle Ball to score.

Stetson would come away with the game one victory over Maine, 9-3.

Maine will face off against Stetson on Tuesday, March. 15 as the Black Bears wrap up their 5-game trip to Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 P.M. but there is some expected bad weather that may impact first pitch time.
