WINTER HAVEN, FL -- The University of Maine baseball team dropped their first of three games against NDSU on Friday afternoon, 9-4.
First Inning: B Anderson hit a double to left field to get NDSU on the board first, driving in C Schwabe. W Busch followed up with an RBI single two batters later to bring home Brookshaw and give NDSU an early 2-0 lead.
Second Inning:
Jake Marquez got Maine on the board in the second as he scored on a passed ball.
Fourth Inning:
Colby Emmertz kept his hot streak going as he hit a deep fly ball to left field for a double, driving in
Jake Rainess.
NDSU would answer in the bottom of the inning as C Schwabe hit an RBI fielders choice.
Fifth Inning:
Joe Bramanti would hit the lone home run of the contest, a solo shot to right field, bringing the game back to a 3-3 score.
Seventh Inning:
Jeremiah Jenkins got the Black Bears in front for the first time on the afternoon as he hit a Sac-Fly to left field, driving in
Quinn McDaniel.
Eighth Inning: NDSU would put up 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning at they pulled ahead by 5 runs, bringing an end to the scoring for the contest.
Brett Erwin turned in a quality start for the Black Bears, throwing 6 innings, allowing 3 runs and striking out 7.
Max Loven would give his side 5 and 2/3 innings of 3-run ball, striking out 3 on the day for NDSU.
Tristen Roehrich got the win for NDSU, allowing a single run over 3 and 1/3 innings of relief.
Matthew Pushard took the loss for the Black Bears, allowing 5 runs, all earned, over an 1 and 1/3 of relief.
The Black Bears will face off against NDSU for game two of the weekend on Saturday, Mar. 12. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
