Boston, Mass. --
Lewis Roebuck posted Maine's top finish of day one at the America East Indoor Championships as he was the runner-up in the weight throw. Roebuck joined four other Black Bears in posting Maine indoor top-10 all-time marks as the Black Bears sit in fourth place with 17 points after one day of competition.
Roebuck's throw of 17.20m, a personal record for him improving his 10th place indoor all-time mark at Maine, was good for the silver medal in the event.
Luke Marsanskis came home eighth in the 5000m after turning in the second best time in Maine indoor history at 14:25.56.
Samuel Mills followed Marsanskis, placing ninth with the third best all-time mark in Maine history in the event at 14:25.18.
Kyle Jacques placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 7.01m.
Dominick Lizzotte was Maine's top finisher in the pole vault, clearing 4.35m for sixth place while
William Green came home in eighth, also clearing 4.35m.
Cameron Hughes added an eighth place finish in the weight throw at 15.25m while
Jonathan Prell placed 14th in the event at 13.68m.
Ben Cotton turned in Maine's top mark in the long jump, placing 11th at 6.69m.
After four events,
Jeremy Bissell leads the heptathlon at 2,829 points. Bissell won both the shot put and 60m dash on day one.
Zachary Beaton stands third in the heptathlon after four events.
The Black Bears also saw three competitors place qualifying marks in preliminary events on day one.
Eamon Sweeney moved into third on Maine's all-time top 10 list with sixth place, qualifying mark of 8.37 in the 60m hurdles.
Griffin Lawson also qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdle with a time of 8.46.
Ben Cotton finished fifth in the 60m dash, qualifying him for the finals in the event, as his time of 6.92 was good for third on Maine's all-time top-10 list.
