Providence, Rhode Island - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team drops game to #13 Providence 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.
First Goal (0-1 Providence): Sara Hjalmarsson would score first for Providence just 4:38 into the first with a power play goal assisted by Lauren DeBlois and Brooke Becker.
Second Goal (0-2 Providence): Providence would score again in the first period and again by Saara Hjalmarsson this time assisted by Ashley Clark and Lauren DeBlois.
Third Goal (0-3 Providence): Sara Hjalmarsson would complete her hat trick with her third goal scored in the second period and assisted by Lily Hendrikson and Caroline Peterson.
Fourth Goal (0-4 Providence): The Friars would score their second power play goal of the day by Ida Press in the second period. Claire Tyo and Rachel Weiss would each pick up an assist.
Fifth Goal (0-5 Providence): Providence would score their last of the day ten minutes into the third period with a goal from Sara Hjalmarsson, her fourth of the day. Ashley Clark and Maddy Coene.
Sixth Goal (1-5 Maine): Maine would score the last goal of the contest and their first goal of the game from Lilli Welcke. Kennedy Little would get the puck from a Providence player and pass it to Ava Stevenson who found Lilli Welcke in front of the net who shot the puck through a defender and into the net.
Anna LaRose earned 38 saves in net for the Black Bears.
Sandra Abstreiter for Providence, picked up 21 saves.
Maine is back in action on Nov. 25-26 on the road against Clarkson.
