Orono, ME – The University of Maine men's basketball team won their third consecutive game on Friday night against Columbia, 93-70.

After trading buckets in the early going, Maine found themselves beginning to pull away midway through the opening half, in large part due to the contributions by Jaden Clayton and Peter Filipovity.

Both Clayton and Filipovity went for 11 points in the opening 20, with Clayton dishing out a pair of assists and bringing in four rebounds. Filipovity had five rebounds in the opening half.

Maine staked themselves out to a double-digit lead with 9:04 left in the opening half, where the would continue to hold the sizable lead into the second half before Cameron Shocklet-Okeke cut it down to nine a little under two minutes into the second half.

After trading consistent buckets for the second time on the evening, the Black Bears pulled away again, growing their lead up to its highest point in the contest at 23 with 4:03 remianing in the contest.

The Black Bears would hold onto that 23-point lead, finishing off their third straight win over the Columbia Lions, 93-70.

The Black Bears were led in scoring on the night by Kellen Tynes, who dropped a new career high of 21 in the winning performance. He also had four steals in the contest.

Peter Filipovity (17), Jaden Clayton (16), Gedi Juozapaitis (16) and Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish (11) all scored in double-digits for the Black Bears.

Clayton led the Black Bears on the evening with seven assists while registering zero turnovers.

Maine (3-1, 0-0) will head off on the road for their next matchup against Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Tip off for that game is scheduled for 3:30 P.M.
