ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team was defeated by the Quinnipiac University Bobcats, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Mahaney Diamond.

First Goal (Quinnipiac 1-0): The Bobcats struck first 28:00 into the first half. Rebecca Cook collected a Quinnipiac shot that deflected off the goal post and found the back of the net to take an early lead. Markela Bejleri was credited with an assist.

Second Goal (Quinnipiac 2-0): Cook struck again for Quinnipiac. This time the forward scored from beyond the 18-yard box. Maine trailed 2-0 heading into the half time break.

Third Goal (Quinnipiac 3-0): Awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute, Selena Salas scored her squad's third goal of the day. Before the kick, yellow cards were also given to both Quinnipiac and Maine.

Fourth Goal (Quinnipiac 4-0): Cook scored her third goal with less than 20 minutes left in the non-conference contest.

Fifth Goal (Quinnipiac 4-1): With 10 seconds remaining in the ball game,
Tiana Bucknor took a free kick from midfield. The bouncing ball found its way to
Emma Donovan's foot, who tallied her first goal of the 2021 season. The score would remain 4-1 as the Bobcats won the non-conference game.

Maine recorded eight shots on goal to Quinnipiac's seven while the Bobcats won the corner kick battle 5-2.

Along with Donovan's first goal of the season,
Abby Kraemer,
Hannah Bamford,
Susannah Gaines, Mariah Low, and
Julia Mahoney all tallied shots on goal.

Kira Kutzinski turned away three shots during the second home game of the season.
