ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team was defeated by the Vermont Catamounts, 2-0, on Thursday evening at the Mahaney Diamond.

First Goal (Vermont 1-0): 10 minutes into the first half, Cricket Basa scored a goal for the Catamounts. The Vermont forward beat two Maine defenders and found the back of the net early into the rainy, Thursday evening contest.

Second Goal (Vermont 2-0): Alyssa Oviedo gave Vermont a 2-0 advantage 10 minutes into the second half. Bailey Ayer played a perfect ball to her streaking teammate, who did the rest. Maine trailed by two goals early in the second half.

The 2-0 lead stood for Vermont as they held onto the advantage to knock off the Black Bears, 2-0.

Maine recorded 19 total shots to Vermont's 11 while the Black Bears recorded all seven corner kicks.

Kira Kutzinski turned away five shots during the road conference contest.
