Orono, Maine -- Rich Carr has been named the National FCS Special Teams Player of the Week by Stats Perform.

Carr, who was also honored as the Colonial Athletic Association's Special Teams Player of the Week, sparked the Black Bears to a 31-26 victory over Merrimack. The senior defensive back blocked a pair of extra point attempts, each of which was returned for scores. On Carr's first block in the second quarter, Kolubah Pewee Jr. scooped up the loose ball and ran it back 75 yards for a score. In the third quarter, Carr again came up with a block, this time returning it himself, 95 yards for a score. According to NCAA FCS Stats data, the two defensive extra points marked just the third time in history in which an FCS team had tallied a pair of defensive extra points in a single game.
