ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine softball team was defeated by the UAlbany Great Danes in both ends of the doubleheader by scores of 3-8 and 0-2 on Saturday afternoon at Kessock Field.
 
Game #1 - Maine: 3 Albany: 8
 
In the bottom of the first inning, Albany manufactured a run. After reaching on a walk and stealing second base, Alexis Phillips scored on a ground out.
 
The Black Bears answered back in the bottom of the first. After reaching via the walk, stealing second, and advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt, Kya Enos scored on a Jasmine Gray single. The America East game was tied 1-1 after one inning.
 
The Great Danes once again took the lead, this time in top of the fourth inning. A single and an inside the park grand slam. After four complete, Maine trailed 6-1.
 
UAlbany added two runs on a single and an error in the top of the sixth inning. It was an 8-1 Great Danes advantage after their ups in the sixth. Amanda Nee lifted a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. MK Livingston drove home a run on an error committed by the Albany infield. After six complete, Maine was down 8-3.
 
Notes:

• Lilly Volk (0-3) went 3.2 innings and allowed six runs. Gabbie Siciliano went the rest of the way, allowed two earned, and struck out two.
• Keely Clark and Jasmine Gray each recorded two hits, while Kelby Drews finished with one.

Game #2 - Maine: 0 Albany: 2
 
The final regular season game of the 2021 season went to extra innings. UAlbany manufactured two runs on a handful of walks, bunts, and errors. After the top half of the eighth inning, the Great Danes scored two runs. They were the only two runs scored. Maine dropped its final game of the season, 2-0.
 
Notes:

• Kyleigh O'Donnell (9-8) went the distance for the Black Bears. The senior only one earned run and struck out four.
• Brianna Neely tallied two hits, as Izzy Nieblas, Kelby Drews, and Emma Larke all finished with one.
