Jourdain, Schumann named to America East Track & Field All-Academic Team

Orono, Maine -- University of Maine track & field standouts Emma Jourdain and Anna Schumann have each been named to the 2021 America East All-Academic team, as announced by the league on May 21.

Jourdain, a senior, carries a 4.00 GPA and recently graduated with a degree in Marine Science with a concentration in Marine Biology. Jourdain is a seven-time Presidential Scholar honoree and seven-time Dean's List selection. She has earned three selections to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll and earned a trio of Team MAINE selections as the student-athlete with the highest GPA on her team.

Schumann, the female recipient of this year's M Club Dean's Smith Award, boasts a 3.99 GPA while earning a degree in both Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Microbiology. The 2021 College of Natural Sciences Outstanding Graduating International Student, she is a six-time Presidential Scholar and six-time Dean's List selection. The senior has earned three selections to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll and two spots on the America East All-Academic squad. A three-time Team MAINE honoree, Schumann will pursue a PhD in biomedical and biological studies at Cornell University.

To be eligible for All-Academic, student-athletes must have sophomore athletic eligibility, attain a 3.30 minimum grade-point average, and be a contributor on their team. The squad is voted on by a committee made up of America East student-athlete support and athletic communications administrators as well as faculty athletic representatives.
