ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's track and field program is set to send two student-athletes to Jacksonville, Fla. next week for the NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field East Regional, following the release of the regional qualifying lists Thursday.Â

Cheyenne Figueroa has qualified in the hammer throw while fellow America East silver medalist

Figueroa, a senior from Providence, R.I., is set to begin the first round of the hammer throw at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 29. The women's 3000m steeplechase is slated for a 5:40 p.m. start time on Saturday, May 31. Shearer, from Hampden, Maine, holds the school record in the event.Â

The East First Round meet is scheduled to run Wednesday, May 28 through Saturday, May 31 at the University of North Florida. The top 12 individual qualifiers from each event at each First Round Regional will qualify for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place June 11-13 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
