Durham, N.H. -- The University of Maine women's track & field team registered five event victories while placing second with 120 points in a meet against New Hampshire, Dartmouth, UMass Lowell, Hartford, and Vermont on Saturday afternoon at UNH.
The Black Bears were impressive in the field events, capturing two wins and several top three marks. Maine earned four of the top five spots in the hammer, led by
Allison Fayard's winning throw of 49.15m. Fayard's throw was the eighth best throw in Maine school history.
Sarah Vanacore was the runner-up in the event at 48.13m.
Mackenzie Wilson placed fourth with a throw of 45.77m while
Erica Magnuson added a fifth place toss of 43.89m. Magnuson was also Maine's top finisher in the discus at 38.95m.
Julia Feid captured gold in the javelin with a mark of 40.23m, the fourth highest mark in Maine school history.
Rebekah Hunnewell-Dunphe led Maine in the shot put, placing sixth at 12.03m.
The Black Bears placed three in the top four of the triple jump, led by
Anna Schumann who won the event at 11.66m.
Emma White posted a mark of 11.33m to finish third while
Oliviah Damboise finished fourth at 11.21m. Damboise also placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.20m.
Katherine Cowan added a fourth place finish in the high jump with a final tally of 1.62m.
Jessica Kroushl, Schumann,
Katherine Cowan, and
Emily Labbe combined to capture gold in the 4x100m relay with a winning time of 48.26.
Labbe added an individual victory after crossing the line first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.65.
Darcy Cochran placed fourth in the event at 15.15.

Tegan Morrison was Maine's top placer in the 800m, finishing fourth with a time of 2:19.15. Morrison added a fifth place finish in the 200m at 26.16.

Lydia Gilore was Maine's top finisher in the 5000m distance event, crossing the line seventh with a final time of 18:38.65.

Syeira New, Morrison,
Anna Folley, and Cochran captured bronze in the 4x400m relay with a final time of 4:14.97.

The Black Bears will compete in the America East Championships on May 1-2 at UMass Lowell.
