WORCESTER, Mass. -- The University of Maine softball team dropped an afternoon doubleheader at Holy Cross by scores of 5-1 and 3-0.

Game One - Maine: 1 Holy Cross: 5

The Crusaders grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Erin Bengston doubled for her squad before Kari Jacobson followed with an RBI single. After two complete, the Black Bears trailed by two.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Bengston doubled once again. This time, the Crusader drove in two runs. Megan Yurchick recorded an RBI on her ground out. Holy Cross held a 5-0 lead after five innings in Worcester.

Mariah Pearson drove in Maine's run when she pinch hit in the top of the 7th inning. The double drove in
Jasmine Gray. It was as close as the Black Bears would get as they dropped the first game of the doubleheader.

In the bottom of the first inning, Jessie Nagel lifted a fly ball that drifted over the centerfield fence. The Crusaders' two run shot gave them a 2-0 advantage after one inning in the second game of the day.

Bella Jankowski lined an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was the final run of the non-conference match-up as the Black Bears dropped the final game of the doubleheader.
