LOWELL, Mass. -- The University of Maine women's soccer was defeated by the University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon on the campus of UMass Lowell.

First Goal (UMass Lowell 1-0): Marissa Saucedo snagged the first goal of the first half for the River Hawks. Anna Edson played the ball ahead to Saucedo. The forward chipped the ball over a crashing
Kira Kutzinski. Maine's netminder narrowly missed making the impressive save. 33 minutes into the first half, UMass Lowell had a 1-0 lead.

Second Goal (UMass Lowell 2-0): Seven minutes after her squad's first goal, Rakel Stefansdottir added another. It was her first career goal. Somewhat similar to the Saucedo goal, the Iceland native avoided an incoming Kutzinski. Her ball deflected off the goal post and into the Maine net. At the half, the Black Bears trailed 2-0.

Maine held a 19-14 advantage in total shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
