STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The University of Maine women's soccer team was defeated by the Stony Brook Seawolves, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon on Long Island.

First Goal (Stony Brook 1-0): After a red card was given to the Black Bears, the Seawolves took a one goal lead. Alyssa Francese took and scored the penalty kick. 10:04 into the conference match-up, Stony Brook grabbed a lead they would not relinquish.

Second Goal (Stony Brook 2-0): With less than 10 minutes left in the first half, Stony Brook struck once again. Chelsie DePonte played the ball ahead to Catharina Drigalski. The back made a Maine defender miss before she found the back of the Black Bears' net. Drigalski gave her squad a 2-0 advantage minutes before halftime.

Third Goal (Stony Brook 3-0): The Seawolves struck one more time in the afternoon contest. Rachel Florenz scored amidst traffic in front of Kira Kutsinski. Alyssa Francese was credited an assist of her third point of the America East battle.

The junior transfer found Jane Stevens, who tallied her first goal of the 2021 spring season. Unfortunately, it was close as the Black Bears would get. Stony Brook's 3-1 lead would stand.
