Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine football program has announced its tentative schedule for the 2021 fall season. The full slate includes 11 games, five at Alfond Stadium, a pair of road games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents, and eight contests against Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foes.

As usual, the conference slate features four home games and four road games for each team as they face eight of the other 11 CAA Football members. However, this year's schedule has been configured to reduce travel, especially in regards to flights.

For the third consecutive season, Maine will open its slate at home when it hosts Delaware on Saturday, Sept. 4. The Black Bears start the season with a pair of CAA contests as they will travel to meet James Madison in week two on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The Black Bears return home for a non-conference showdown with Merrimack, the first-ever meeting between the two programs, on Saturday, Sept. 18 before hitting the road for the first of two FBS games as they take on Northern Illinois, also in a first-ever meeting, on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Following the bye week for the Black Bears, Maine remains at Alfond Stadium for a two-game homestand, beginning with a contest against Elon on Saturday, Oct. 9 before welcoming William & Mary to Orono on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The Black Bears hit the road for two-straight CAA match-ups, starting with a trip to UAlbany on Saturday, Oct. 23 before a voyage to Rhode Island on Saturday, Oct. 30.

In its final regular season home game of the fall slate, Maine hosts Stony Brook on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The Black Bears close the season with a pair of road games, beginning with their second FBS contest of the year on Saturday, Nov. 13 at UMass. Maine wraps up he regular season at New Hampshire for the 109th meeting with the Wildcats in the Battle for the Brice-Cowell musket on Saturday, Nov. 20.
