Former Black Bear Pat Ricard earns third Pro Bowl honor

Orono, Maine -- For the third time in his career, former Black Bear and All-CAA honoree Pat Ricard has been selected to the AFC Pro Bowl roster, as announced by the National Football League on Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Ricard, selected to the Pro Bowl roster as a fullback for the third consecutive season, becomes the only Black Bear to be named to the Pro Bowl on three occasions. Fellow former Black Bear Montell Owens earne two Pro Bowl selections during his NFL tenure.

This season, Ricard, has appeared in 12 games with 10 starts while registering eight receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown. Ricard, currently in his fifth season with the Baltimore Ravens, has appeared in 69 games with 29 starts during his career while accounting for 29 receptions for 167 yards and five touchdowns.

While at UMaine, Ricard played 44 games and was a constant force on the defensive line. Nearly a quarter of Ricard's 208 total tackles were for a loss. He ended his career at Maine with 47.5 tackles-for-loss, 18.0 sacks, 11 pass deflections, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a pair of blocked kicks.
