ORONO, Maine— The University of Maine softball program and new head coach
Jordan Fitzpatrick are proud to announce the regular season schedule for the 2022 Black Bears. Fitzpatrick steps into her new role after six seasons as an assistant with the team.
 Maine starts its 2022 campaign with a three-game series at Georgia Southern on February 18-February 20.
The Black Bears head back down the coast when they travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to take on Liberty University in another three-game weekend series, February 25– 27
.
After returning from Virginia, the team will have a short break until March 10Â when they embark for Utah.
First stop for Maine is in St. George to take on Dixie State for their third three-game series of the year (March 11-13). Next, the Black Bears will stop in Provo to play BYU for one game on March 15. The following day, March 16, they will play in Orem versus Utah Valley University. To close out their week-long Utah trip, the Black Bears land in Logan, Utah to battle Utah State in a two-game weekend series on March 18Â and 19.
The Black Bears deservingly take a week off from play to rest and practice in Orono before hitting the road again, this time to Qunnipiac University in Connecticut on March 26Â and 27.
After leaving Hamden, Conn., the Black Bears have a two-day break leading up to a one-game tilt on the road versus the University of Massachusetts-Amherst on March 30.
Maine opens America East play on April 2Â when they travel to Long Island to play Stony Brook (April 2 and 3). The Bears will work their way back up the coast and play non-conference Providence on the road on April 6.
After the one-game showdown with the Friars, the Black Bears get back into their America East schedule for the rest of the 2022 season. On April 9Â and 10, they take on Albany to close out their nearly two-month road schedule.
The Black Bears open their home portion schedule on April 13Â when they host the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in a mid-week matchup.
Next, the Retrievers of the University of Massachusetts-Baltimore County (UMBC) come to town for a Saturday-Sunday series on the 16Â and 17Â of April. Maine hosts another weekend series against Binghamton University on April 23Â and 24.
Maine hits the road the following Tuesday to play its last three regular season games on the road. First, the Bears play the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (April 27) on their diamond.
Maine's student-athletes will take the first week of May off for finals, and then cap off the regular season when they travel to the University of Hartford for a weekend series on Friday May 6Â and Saturday May 7.
The America East Tournament will begin on May 11Â and continue until the 14.
