ORONO, ME - The University of Maine men's and women's track and field teams are set to begin their 2021-22 season with a home meet against UNH on Friday, Dec. 3 and Saturday, Dec. 4.
The last time the Black Bears were in action was on May 15, 2021, when the Black Bears competed at the New England Championships.
Lewis Roebuck (hammer) and
Samuel Mills (5000m) each placed first in their individual events on day one of the New England Championships at Veterans Stadium.
Roebuck took gold in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.32m, the fourth best mark in school history.
Mills captured Maine's second victory of the afternoon, taking top honors in the 5000m run with a final time of 14:46.87, the eighth fastest mark in school history.
Luke Marsanskis followed Mills in the event, placing fifth at 15:04.65.
Kyle Jacques was the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 7.07m.
Jeremy Bissell added a ninth place showing in the event at 6.86m while
Ben Cotton took 10th at 6.73m.
Isaiah Allen was Maine's top finisher in the javelin, taking fifth with a throw of 56.79m.
Allison Fayard posted a All-New England qualifying mark in her event on day one of the New England Championships at Veterans Stadium.
Allison Fayard finished fifth in the hammer, posting a personal record and the seventh best hammer throw in school history, with a mark of 50.83m.
Friday's start time is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. with Saturday slated at 11:00 A.M.
