Lincoln, Nebraska -- The University of Maine women's basketball team dropped its season opener at Nebraska by a final of 108-50 on Tuesday afternoon. Anne Simon led Maine's scoring efforts with 14 points while Maeve Carroll chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.

All five of Maine's newcomers made their career debuts in the contest, including Sera Hodgson who earned the start for the Black Bears while finishing with two points and two rebounds. Bailey Wilborn led the freshmen in scoring with six points on two threes while Adrianna Smith (two points) and Paula Gallego (two points) each tallied their first career buckets.

In total, the Black Bears finished 21-of-53 from the floor (39.6), including a 5-of-23 showing from 3-point range, while hitting three of seven free throw attempts.
