ORONO, ME - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team has a pair of Athletes that are set to be competing for their countries at the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers.
Amalie Andersen representing Denmark and Mira Seregély representing Hungary.
Andersen, a Junior out of Herning, Denmark, has tallied one goal and six assists thus far in her 41 game career with the Black Bears. Team Denmark is set to begin action in the Qualifiers out of Group D as they take on Italy on Thursday, Nov. 11. Germany and Austria are the other two teams in Group D.
Seregély, a freshman out of Budapest, Hungary, has tallied two assists so far into her first 11 games with the Black Bears. Team Hungary is set to begin action in the Qualifiers out of Group C on Thursday, Nov. 11 with a matchup against Poland. The Czech Republic and Norway are the other two teams in Group C.
The winners of each group stage (C,D,E)with find themselves at the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, where they will be joining Team USA, Canada, Finland, the Russian Olympic Committee, Switzerland, Japan and the hosting country, China.
