ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated the Stony Brook Seawolves, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Mahaney Diamond.

First Goal (Maine 1-0): The Black Bears scored 37 seconds into the Sunday afternoon America East contest.
Saylor Clark fired a shot that was saved by the Stony Brook goalkeeper.
Abby Kraemer collected the rebound and gave her squad a very early 1-0 lead.

Second Goal (1-1): Less than two minutes later, the Seawolves evened the conference bout. On a bouncing ball, Alyssa Francese managed to head the ball into open space and past the Maine defense. 2:47 into the game, the game was tied at one goal apiece.

Third Goal (Maine 2-1): Tie was short lived as
Saylor Clark continued to press. The senior forward played a beautiful through ball to classmate
Emma Donovan. Scoring her second of the season, Donovan once again tipped the scales back to the Black Bears.

Fourth Goal (Maine 3-1): Kraemer, seeing her teammate streaking into open space, found
Tegan Morrison with an excellent pass. The sophomore forward took advantage and tallied her first goal of the season. 17 minutes into the game, Maine had a 3-1 lead.

Fifth Goal (Maine 4-1): Abby Kraemer added one more goal for the Black Bears late in the second half.
Olivia Chalifoux was credited with her first assist of the season. Maine held onto the three goal lead for a 4-1 victory over Stony Brook.

Maine recorded eight total shots to Stony Brook's 14 while the Seawolves recorded all 10 corner kicks.

Tegan Morrison were the goal scorers for the Black Bears.

Kira Kutzinski turned away a season high eight shots during the home conference victory.

Next: The Black Bears are back on the pitch Thursday, October 14th against New Hampshire for the next chapter of the 'Border Battle'. The conference bout is scheduled to kick-off at 7:00 pm.
