ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team was defeated by the University of New Hampshire Wildcats, 1-0, on Thursday evening at the Mahaney Diamond.

First Goal (UNH 1-0): 29 minutes into the first half, UNH broke the scoreless tie. Anna Hewlett played a ball into the 18 that found the head of Meghan Guarente. The freshman gave her squad a one goal lead that stood until the end of the first half.

The lone first half goal ultimately was the game winner. Maine was unable to find the back of the net as UNH held off the Black Bears for a 1-0 win.

Maine recorded six total shots on goal to UNH's 13 while the Black Bears recorded four corner kicks.

Halle Rogers paced the offense with her two shots on goal.

Kira Kutzinski turned away a season high nine shots during the home conference contest.

Next: The Black Bears are back on the pitch Sunday, October 17th at Binghamton. The conference bout is scheduled to kick-off at 12:00 pm.
