Lowell, Mass. - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #15 University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks, 9-5, on Monday Afternoon in the Tsongas Center.

First Goal (1-0 #15 UMass Lowell): Chase Blackmun took advantage of a long possession in the UMaine zone to give his squad an early one goal lead. Matt Brown, who had recently stolen the puck, found Blackmun in front of the Maine net. Charlie Levesque was also credited with an assist on the play.

Second Goal (1-1 #15 UMass Lowell): Collecting the
Jakub Sirota rebound,
Edward Lindelow scored his first career goal for the Black Bears. With traffic in front of the UMass Lowell, Lindelow fired through sticks, legs, and pads into the back of the net.

Third Goal (2-1 Maine): On the power play,
Eduards Tralmaks scored his first goal of the 2020-21 season. After collecting a rebound, the senior forward popped the bottle for the Black Bears' second goal of the game. Unfortunately, the lead was short lived.

Fourth Goal (2-2): Zach Kaiser evened the Hockey East game at two goals apiece with a short handed goal during the Black Bears five minute man advantage. 00:20 after Maine scored, the River Hawk forward tallied a lamp lighter of his own.

Fifth Goal (3-2 Maine): Scoring his second goal in two games,
Emil Westerlund scored Maine's third goal off of a rebound.
Jakub Sirota fired from the blue line. After the shot was saved, Westerlund tipped the puck home. Once again, the lead was short lived.

Sixth Goal (3-3): With less than three remaining in the first period, Blackmun scored the six goal of the period. His second of the frame evened the bout at three goals apiece.

Seventh Goal (4-3 #15 UMass Lowell): For his third goal of the game, Blackmun scored an unassisted goal on the power play. Early in the second period, UMass Lowell had a one goal lead.

Eight Goal (4-4): Tralmaks scored his second goal of the afternoon. This time, the forward scored on a 3-on-1 breakaway while the Black Bears were short handed. The tie game would not stay that way for long.

Ninth Goal (5-4 #15 UMass Lowell): Matt Brown snagged another lead for the River Hawks with a power play goal halfway through the second period. Carl Berglund set up his power play unit partner and stole the advantage from the Black Bears.

Tenth Goal (6-4 #15 UMass Lowell): Brian Chambers added another goal for the River Hawks in the second period. UMass Lowell scored three goals in the first and second period. After two periods, Maine trailed by two goals.

Eleventh Goal (6-5 #15 UMass Lowell): With skaters in front of the crease,
Levi Kleiboer scored his first career goal for the University of Maine. Tralmaks fed the defender with a beautiful pass. With 13:00 left in the third period, the Black Bears trailed by only a goal.

Twelfth Goal (7-5 #15 UMass Lowell): After a lengthy review, Matt Brown had his goal upheld for his squad. With 10:12 left in the game, the River Hawks snagged another two goal lead.

Thirteenth Goal (8-5 #15 UMass Lowell): Andranik Armstrong scored his first career goal to give the River Hawks a late three goal lead.

Fourteenth Goal (9-5 #15 UMass Lowell): In the final two minutes, Lucas Condotta scored the ninth and final goal of the afternoon for the River Hawks, as they would win the Hockey East contest by four goals.

Notes: Victor Ostman started the game and finished his time with 13 saves before
Matthew Thiessen took over in net and stopped 36 shots. Logan Neaton tallied 14 for UMass Lowell before Owen Savory recorded 11 saves.

Maine scored two goals on their lone power play, as the River Hawks were 1-6 on their player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked nine shots as a team.
